Opportunity:

The Cougar’s Basketball Practice Facility was in need of a fresh look that reflected their recently updated identity. Downstream brought this transformation to life as part of the branding master plan we established for the athletic department.

Development:

Working with coaches Bone and Daugherty, we learned the values and messages that were important to the sports programs at WSU. These values served as the framework for the project as a whole, and influenced each element of the design.

Solution:

We developed 16 graphics of current WSU basketball players. One wall displays the men’s team, and another the women’s. Additionally, the facility is wrapped with the Cougar’s fight song, and Washington State is spelled out along the North Wall with images of the ZZU CRU, the student support group, embedded within.  The design elements are cohesive and thoughtful, carrying through to the outer edges of the gym, and the corresponding doorways. This space captures the pride of the team and the value WSU places on it’s athletes.
