Zoom approached us with an ambitious challenge—create the most innovative Customer Experience Center in the world.
To create a new type of experience hub, Downstream and Unispace needed to combine workspace and customer experience in a way they'd never done before. Transforming Zoom’s London office into a hybrid client & employee space, with an immersive ‘Experience Center’ (Executive Briefing Center/EBC) that can tell stories, unlock creativity, and allow customers to explore Zoom’s technology and product solutions.
A diverse design team of architects, engineers, software developers, content creators, AV systems designers, product creation specialists, and interior designers across Downstream and Unispace came together to create a new home for Zoom’s EMEA operations in London.
In collaboration with Zoom, we developed user journeys and crafted an experience framework that drove the project’s overall design. The space needed to engender meaningful connections, showcase the full depth and breadth of the Zoom platform and allow hands-on demonstrations to guests and subject matter experts.
The experience concept had to evoke a “feeling” that embodied Zoom’s brand spirit, foster connections and immerse users in Zoom’s products. With that narrative in mind, Downstream designed a one-of-a-kind Experience Center.
Zoom’s London office is now an environment that effortlessly combines a cutting-edge workspace with a next-generation Customer Experience Center. It acts as a hub for exploration into the evolving landscape of virtual to hybrid connections, immersing visitors and employees alike into the world of Zoom.
This premium Experience Centre allows Zoom to showcase their solutions through immersive storytelling and hands- on experiences. Guests go on a memorable journey discovering how their company can experience and use next-generation virtual and hybrid video conferencing.
There is a seamless connection from the Experience Centre to Zoom’s employee space, the ‘Engagement Hub’. An office space that demonstrates Zoom's commitment to flexible working through a variety of focus, collaborative and community areas for over 200 employees.
At the center of the Zoom facility is the Discovery Showcase which supports dynamic demonstrations, workshops feature a 15-meter-wide LED transparent film the wraps the exterior of this space.
A light fabric Lens Wall that wraps the entire environment, presents diffused digital art through a series of slow-moving, scene-setting content, and can transform instantly to create a personalized experience for guests.
The next-generation Discovery Showcase includes a world-leading large-scale curved LED screen with multi-touch interactivity. The two 10-metre-wide curved, super-fine resolution LED displays offer an almost 360-degree immersive storytelling experience. In the center of the room, a customized circular touch table allows Zoom to control and customize assets and AV systems through a sleek and intuitive interface.
After guests visit the Discovery Showcase they are led to the Boardroom of the Future, where they will explore the latest in Zoom’s AI and collaboration technologies.
The 18-person boardroom features a floor-to-ceiling 8K LED screen. The latest camera and audio systems are integrated flawlessly into detailed timber-clad acoustic walls and a custom-feature ceiling.
Zoom equally wanted an innovative hybrid workplace design for their employees. They collaborated with our Group’s global workplace design & build firm Unispace to facilitate a high-tech, healthy work environment, achieving LEED Gold status through sustainability considerations in materiality and lighting. Signifying a strong commitment to using resources efficiently, reducing environmental impact, and creating healthier indoor spaces.
